Re: couple questions

The first question is related to a relatively recent change in the engine. In short, when you've got a substantial number of troops in a hex, some are considered masked and behind their friends. Check the user manual, 5.3.9 for full details. Column. In the Napoleonic Era, the Column had been develop...

Re: What are your thoughts about Vienna 1683?

Yes, and in fact that points to one of the major problems for the Ottomans in the entire battle. The army was sipahi heavy to begin with, and then the Grand Vizier left way, way, way too much infantry in the siege lines (something like 60% of the Janissaries, and all of the Azab) For the infantry, y...

Re: Renaissance - question about melee against multiple units in one hex

Position doesn't matter for a melee. It is your attacking troops vs *all* enemy troops in hex.

Now, it *can* make a difference in regards to the Final Defensive Fire (which units are able to shoot), but for the melee itself, it's the whole group.

What are your thoughts about Vienna 1683?

I'm just curious about feedback regarding Vienna. What do people think of it? Is the army mix interesting? Balance? Such and so :)

Yes, I meant a text editor. My bad on that. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Re: Changing Unit Numbers in an OOB

To see what OOB is used, open up the .scn file in a scenario editor and you'll see (around line 14 or so) which oob file is used.

To search for a specific unit within an oob, probably the fastest way is to again, use a text editor, and then use the find function.

Re: Game Version

If you still have the most recent install/patch file, the version number is normally part of the name. Otherwise, not that I know of.

Re: How to use TDC in Kriegsmarine?

It's on page 53 of the manual. 3.5.10 Torpedo Data Computer (TDC) In the standard submarine rules, torpedo shots must be fired manually. But in most cases, submarines were equipped with computers that provided a firing solution based on input target data. In the enhanced submarine rules, there is a ...

Re: Formations

There are two ways to see what formation the unit is in. First off, the counter will show the formation. Second, the unit information box will show it as well. However, Skirmishers work differently. They don't change the formation of the mother unit, but instead they detach a whole new unit which is...

Re: Developer Notes - When a scenario makes no mention of HTH or AI?

On that front, I would say that every game is designed to be played against the AI. The AI can be better or worse at times (though it has gotten much better thanks to the programmers), but the majority of the user base play against the AI. An AI will never replace a human for cunning play, but the g...
