Re: OOB Files

If you are using Windows, use NotePad to open the OOB files, not WordPad or Microsoft Word.

Re: 2 rank vs 3 rank

Forming in two ranks wouldn't fool anybody in viewing range about your strength for very long, it would be fairly easy to deduce whether the opposing line is two or three ranks deep!...

Re: Campaign Marengo, Stradella scenario?

I always appreciate the victory point fine tuning involved in creating a well balanced scenario, especially from the perspective of how that helps nudge play in more historical directions. The irony is though, I don't mind playing a disadvantage side as the only thing I'm really concerned with ultim...

Re: Campaign Marengo, Stradella scenario?

Thanks for the confirmation I wasn't imaging things! Incidentally, it is really quite a nice variant and it turned out to be quite a challenging scenario for my opponent and I. There is indeed an opportunity for the French to cut the Austrians off from the bridge and reduce the number of Austrian tr...

Re: State Regiments in the ACW

As best I can tell from my primary source readings is that new replacements were very much the exception rather than the rule. Most of the references I've seen usually involve men on leave for sickness or family matters returning to duty and sometimes from prisoner exchange.

Re: Infantry-Cavalry interaction

The second day at Dresden is something of a challenge to simulate due to the heavy rain, however, the general inability of infantry to be able to use their muskets effectively is correct. Something to keep in mind, the ability of the occasional soldier to manage to get his musket to fire would have ...

Re: Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf

To address the issues posed, (Warhorse) I am referring to all of the games in the Napoleonic series but I strongly suspect that some of the same issues may apply to the American Civil War series too, and if that is true, it likely affects other series as well. That is why this is posted in the Gener...

Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf

The horse is already out of the barn on this and long gone, however, I keep encountering players in sidebar conversations who seem to be seeking confirmation that what they think they are perceiving is real or an explanation for why they are imagining otherwise.  I'll confine my observations to the ...

Re: Cavalry charge fatigue from charge movement

My knowledge of the intricacies of what is going on at a small scale in Napoleonic battles is not as robust as I would prefer as I do not possess the ability to read European primary language sources directly. On the other hand, I am quite familiar with American Civil War primary sources and can sta...
