What rules settings do yall use? Im not too sure what is optimal because i am a fairly new player. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I still play with manual defensive fire as it feels more like a wargame to me.

Automatic Defensive Fire does nothing when Manual Defensive Fire is off, by the way.

For the most part I use the optional rules suggested by the scenario designer, since altering those usually has serious and unforeseen impacts on the play balance (for example switching to alternate indirect fire when the game was play tested without it will change the casualty rates and thus the score). Programmed weather being switched off can absolutely destroy a game (try an invasion of France without clear weather for the Germans and it's lights out). Explicit Supply really can make some scenarios better, but for most scenarios it's just a hassle with limited added value (Operation Compass in EA42 needs to use it for example to give the Italians a chance against the British).

Bottom line, the designers and testers put a lot of effort into getting the setting recommendations in there, I find it's best to go with that and make changes only incrementally and after much playing time.

I use the default rules , but I just change to manual defensive fire phase

I use default, unless the scenario designer has suggested otherwise.

Default for the most part. I used to play with more of the optional rules ON but after the Assault rule was changed I switched.
