SBWW2 West Front-(WD)421206-Tunisia

Post by Warhorse »

Here is a scenario by F.Lee Harmon Jr., Breakthrough! converted to use with my SBWW2 West Front mod, based on Eagles Strike. Uses Desert Battles sub mod using JSGME before starting the scenario to get the correct terrain.

Description-Scenario Size:Medium\2 Player Game?: Yes\\Designer's Notes: The
German player has to be crafty to manage a win in this scenario
and wisely choose his route of attack. Practicing the ideology
of Guderian is probably the best option. \\06 DECEMBER 1942,
JEBEL EL GUESA, TUNISIA\\By late December 1942, extremely determined
counterattacks by German forces in North Africa had not deterred
Allied High Command from continuing to prepare a new assault
on Tunis.\\To complicate matters further, the Afrika Korps now
held the advantage and was trying to breakthrough in the vicinity
of Medjez-El-Bab. Rommel's troops planned to advance along the
south bank of the Medjerda River, a sector defended by Combat
Command B of the US 1st Armored Division.\\Rushing to assume
a blocking position, Charlie Company, 6th Armored Infantry Battalion
held the south sector of the AOR and soon found themselves in
threat of being cut off by enemy armor. As tanks and SP Arty
from C/27th Armored Artillery Bn. entered the fray, they were
able to prohibit the German tanks from accomplishing their feat
in entirety.\\Although the Yankees did not give up without a
fight the relatively inexperienced American troops suffered from
poor coordination in their attack and would pay dearly losing
the majority of their armored vehicles and suffering heavy infantry
losses (they did manage to knock-out 8 German AFV's). \\Despite
the fact that the main American force managed to make it back
to a defensive position 6km in the rear, isolated pockets of
infantry were cut off and forced to surrender giving the Germans
the day and the field.

Changes are switching to correct vehicles/guns for the year involved, since this was made in Eagles Strike which didn't include some kit.

SBWW2 Eastern Front Vol. II-430807-Maximova

Post by Warhorse »

Here is another conversion, this for SBWW2 East Front Volume II, based on Red Victory. Steel Inferno at Maximova by Ozgur Budak, here is the description-
07 AUGUST 1943, MAXIMOVA, 15 KM SOUTH OF BOGODUKHOV:\\Operation
Rumyantsev was the third Russian attempt to capture Kharkov.
It was a nasty surprise for the German command which believed
that after the Battle of Kursk the Soviet mobile reserves were
too damaged to launch an offensive in the short term. However,
on 23 July, elements of the Voronezh and Steppe Fronts hit the
Belgorod line, pushing aside the 332nd Infantry Division and
167th Infantry Division. Soviet command sent two powerful armored
spearheads into the breach; Katukov's 1st Tank Army and Rotmistrov's
5th Gds Tank Army. The counterattack by the tired 19th Panzer
Division could not prevent the envelopment of Tomarovka.\\On
5 August the 3rd Mechanized Corps, the leading mobile element
of the 1st Tank Army, was holding static lines south of the Tomarovka
Pocket. On 6 August the mobile unit was relieved by the infantry
from the 32nd Guards Rifle Corps and continued its advance towards
Bogodukhov and Merefa to outflank Kharkov from the West. On 7
August after bypassing the German defenses at Bogodukhov, the
Russian spearhead continued its advance south towards Maximova,
a key rail line sector between Kharkov and Bogodukhov.\\By 17:00,
the leading unit of the 3rd Mechanized Corps, the 1st Guards
Tank Brigade, was near Maximova where they ran into the elements
of the 2nd SS Panzergrenadier Division "Das Reich" which was
moving from Olshany towards Bogodukhov to plug the gap and establish
contact with Army Detachment Kempf. Russian tanks reacted quickly
and engaged the German column South of Maximova. With the arrival
of reinforcements, the unexpected encounter developed into a
chaotic tank battle which continued for two days.\\Waffen SS
vs Russian Guards, Waffen SS move first.\\All special ammunition
available to both sides.
