Old Installation CD's

Post by Anteater »

Is there any reason besides nostalgia to keep the old installation CD's now that everything is digital? Since we've been through the license conversion to WDS a few years ago I can't think why I might need them later.

You could keep them "just in case". You never know what's going to happen in the future. Even the very wise can't see the means to all ends.

I guess it depends mostly on how many you have. Sometimes storage space is hard to find, so you could try one of those storage cases that's constructed like a notebook. Depending on the model, they hold dozens or hundreds of CD's. Though you wouldn't be able to save the slip cases, just the CD's.

I think you should keep them. Save them for a rainy day. Even though their not supported anymore, they should still work.

As far as we are concerned they are obsolete. Like you mentioned, the conversion is already done so they are recorded in your store account - where you have access to new versions of the software.

On the same subject, I have a ton of emails for purchased games with download links, plus receipts for them, can I safely delete them as they appear to be no longer relevant.

Might be worth comparing those to your account, just to be sure nothing got missed. I doubt it, but I'm the paranoid sort. Then you can send em off to the great electron pile in the sky.

I have a dozen games originally bought from HPS years ago. I got their upgrades in 2019 (msi files, with serial numbers). I'm at a loss as to how to upgrade them to the latest versions.
