Hi guys!
At the moment I'm playing East Prussia '14, the 1914_0820_01s: Clash of Empires scenario as the Germans and it seems I have some issues with the blowing up of bridges.
I can't use any of my engineer units to blow up bridges as I get a message in the lower left corner telling me that wired bridges are in effect and hence engineers can't blow up bridges. Yet not a single bridge marked as wired has blown up even though the Russians have entered neighbouring hexes aswell as crossed them. I'd expect a few bridges to fail to blow, but not each and every one. And since I can't use my engineers for the job it is starting to get a bit frustrating as my plan to slow down the Russian advances by blowing up a bridge here and there utterly fails.
Is this an intentional part of the scenario design or is the wired bridge function broken?

Hey there, I just gave the scenario a try and the first wired bridge I moved next to blew. It is a 40% chance, so I wouldn't expect more than a few to fail to blow in a row. You may want to share a save game with WDS support to get some help analyzing it from your game perspective.
The only thought that comes to mind would be that playing with an advantage to the other side may impact the chance of blowing - but I have no idea on that and no clue if you are even playing with an advantage set.

Thanks for your reply, Rick!
I didn't change the advantage setting at all when I started this scenario. I will monitor the situation more closely and give the scenario a few turns more I think to see if anything blows up. And make sure I do not mistake bridges not wired to blow for bridges that is but fails to do so.

Yeah, it was hard to keep track as I moved up, which bridges were wired. So I focused on just two and moved straight for them. I thought about setting up a test, also, but felt the actual scenario was a better way to test to be sure. There are too many ways I could screw up a test scenario for wired bridges, so I avoided that!

Some time back I was playing the same scenario as the Germans in a PBEM match and while I can only supply anecdotal evidence I distinctly recall feeling the same as Verdun1916 is. First few wired bridges had the customary destruction rate and then once the game was 25-30 turns in or so it got to the point I just assumed no bridge would ever blow again. I didn't report it, and didn't save any of the files, but the post has brought the memory back.
