Absolutely just one man's opinion, but I don't really care about graphics, as long as they're functional. I'm a wargamer - I'm not here for pretty pictures.

Re: Come on its 2024
I think about it exactly the same way! I really like the games since the Hps-times for being "digitalized tabletop wargames" and I could not care less about 3D and pretty pictures. And I'm totally pleased with the 2d-art of the game. In my opinion the main resources of the WDS team should be invested in enhancing the ai and in developing a new title every now and then and not in graphics.Sir John Cope wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:32 am Absolutely just one man's opinion, but I don't really care about graphics, as long as they're functional. Cheers!

Re: Come on its 2024
I actually use both 2D and 3D views.
I use 3D for tactical decisions, as it’s easier to identify formations and the presence of leaders,
and 2D for an operational overview at the Corps level and above.

Re: Come on its 2024
Good Morning
-The graphics in the game are at a good level, especially the Napoleonic Wars titles, especially hand-painted; 2D and 3D are needed for the gameplay.
-Another great option is the ability to insert alt textures, high res maps, and traditional pictures...
-If I could mention it, the only thing that would need improvement is the 3D soldiers in the First world campaign, but not too much! Since you need to let your imagination work, the program is only intended to help, not to create unrealistic 3d memories of battlefields that never existed, but works in player head...
Regards, Stefan

Re: Come on its 2024
The only issue with the 3D graphics is that it is impossible to tell at a glance how many soldiers there are in a given battalion/squadron. Otherwise it works well, and any esthetic issues are of tertiary importance, compared to the engine upgrades.

But this is also the case in 2D.Jan Szkudlinski wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 8:52 am The only issue with the 3D graphics is that it is impossible to tell at a glance how many soldiers there are in a given battalion/squadron.
The easy way to tell the number of soldiers in the hex is using tab button. This is my default mode playing with tab on.
The get the number of troops in each unit from the info box which I choose to have at the bottom rather than in the left.

Indeed it is; it's just I somehow expect to see the representation of the actual number of troops in 3D mode.oz77 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 10:27 amBut this is also the case in 2D.Jan Szkudlinski wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 8:52 am The only issue with the 3D graphics is that it is impossible to tell at a glance how many soldiers there are in a given battalion/squadron.

I really like the 3d graphics in these titles the 2d is okay wouldn't mind if unit pictures were redone to look like the pictures in Thirty Years War\Great Northern War

As this thread continues, please keep in mind that the OP mistakenly posted this in the Napoleonic's thread, but per interaction with him through the Help Desk we learned that he was referring to the Seven Years War game. Accordingly I am moving it to that set of sub-forums.

I feel like this is bait. The graphics are so clearly shown on the store, plenty of pictures. Plus there are free demos to play prior to purchase.
I like the little pixel guys too, they remind me of table top war gaming.
I just hope some of the other games get the same treatment in the future. The 3d guys in the WW1 campaign series could do with some love aha.
