I enjoyed reading this. I especially liked the complementary images of the actual location and the drawings that helped to set the overall flavor.

In my view, your operational art is already at a high level, which is evident in the way the Allied divisions maneuvered, deployed for battle, and rotated each other as a cohesive force. I would say that effective handling at the divisional level is the first step towards operational proficiency in the game. Less experienced players often focus too much on tactical details, splitting their divisions into pieces and causing disintegration, which leads them to lose sight of the strategic and operational aspects.

My only comment is that the Allied side could have been more aggressive in attempting to envelop the French left, extending the front further by leveraging their numerical advantage. From a timing perspective, it didn’t seem like there was any shortage of time for such maneuver.

My compliments go to the French player for setting up a solid defence and executing a fighting withdrawal. It wasn’t an easy battle for the French side historically, but in the scnario it came very close to a draw.

By the way, making AARs is an excellent way to improve one’s skills. I find that putting thoughts on paper serves as a kind of emotional thermostat. Adding details to the map and assessing the overall situation helps me see the big picture and distance myself from the heat of the moment. Often, local setbacks turn out to be insignificant in the grand scheme, even if they feel critical at the time. Writing my thoughts down is surprisingly effective in providing perspective for a more rational approach.
