Relative Bearing
Relative Bearing
I was just reading the 4.03 version of the User Manual dated August 23, 2022. On page 9 under the topic "2.4 On Map Distance Indicators" is a picture of the cruiser Berwick with a heading of East (90°). To its north is the battlecruiser Hood. The caption is demonstrating the distance tool. The tool gives the distance in yards or nautical miles plus the relative bearing. It says that the relative bearing is 359°. I don't think that is correct. I think the relative bearing should be 269°. I Googled relative bearing and found that a relative bearing of 0° (which this is only 1° off from 359°) is straight in front of you along your current heading. A relative bearing of 180° is straight behind you.

Re: Relative Bearing
You are correct, we'll need to fit that. It's the absolute bearing, not relative.

It's good to know that dozens of hours calculating bearings in Silent Hunter III wasn't wasted...
