I missed this first time round but a timely post nonetheless, so thanks.

I've finished Rick Atkinson's An Army At Dawn: The War in North Africa, 1942-1943 just over a week ago (now on Vol 2).
That together with this vid inspired me to fire up Tunisia '43.

I'm not surprised it won a Pulitzer Prize. I've never read up on much of the early part of the campaign - in particular the Torch landings. The Endgame in Tunisia, yes but before that not really so it was an interesting read.

I would have loved it even more if it had a 4th book at the beginning starting with the Italians in mid 1940 up to Torch.

I’ll recommend two recent books from Robert Forczyk.

Desert Armour: Tank Warfare in North Africa: Beda Fomm to Operation Crusader, 1940-41

Desert Armour: Tank Warfare in North Africa: Gazala to Tunisia, 1942–43
